Some Rain Must Fall takes its text from Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's poem, "The Rainy Day." The piece attempts to capture Longfellow's poignant message that, even though dark and dreary days inevitably come, they won't last forever, for "behind the clouds is the sun still shining!"

To help balance the dark and dreary nature of Some Rain Must Fall, I later composed a companion piece for it entitled, After the Rain.

These two pieces, along with Snowflakes, were written during a time when our family was dealing with the after effects of a terrible tragedy. Composing these pieces and hearing them performed, as well as how they affected others, were very healing to me.
